Dallas Takes Rio · September 21–28, 2026
Copacabana days. Rooftop nights. Charles Haley stories. And Cowboys football at the Maracanã. Sports Fans Travel brought Dallas fans to Rio for a week that went far beyond game day.
In September 2026, Dallas fans traveled with Sports Fans Travel to Rio de Janeiro for beaches, Brazilian landmarks, hosted celebrations with Charles Haley, and the Cowboys’ matchup with Baltimore at Maracanã Stadium. The jerseys were familiar. The setting was something else entirely.
Our flight-package guests made Othon Palace Copacabana their home base, with sea-view rooms, daily breakfast, and the beach just across Avenida Atlântica. A welcome breakfast and Happy Hour at Restaurante La Maison helped get the week started with drinks, light bites, and time to meet fellow fans.
Then came Copacabana at a slower pace. Our SFT Beach Day brought guests together for an informal afternoon on the sand, caipirinhas, and a chance to enjoy Rio between the bigger adventures. There was room in the schedule to explore, try Brazilian food, and make a few new friends before the weekend’s football celebrations.
Rio’s landmarks gave everyone plenty to take home on their camera rolls. Sugarloaf Mountain delivered sweeping views, while Christ the Redeemer and the colorful Selarón Steps brought fans to two of the city’s most recognizable sights.
Thursday evening moved the celebration to Arena Copacabana’s rooftop for food, an open bar, and sunset views. From the mountains to the waterfront, the week mixed Rio’s scenery with the kind of fan atmosphere that follows Dallas wherever the team goes.
For guests who wanted another side of the city, the optional Tijuca Rainforest excursion added an adventure beyond the beach. For everyone else, free afternoons left time to make Rio their own.
Charles Haley hosted the trip’s football weekend, joining guests for Saturday’s Q&A at Othon Palace, the Night Before Party, and the Dallas Takes Rio Tailgate. The Q&A gave fans a chance to hear stories from one of the defining players of Dallas’ championship era before the celebration moved into the evening.
At Terrasse Rio, the Night Before Party brought an open bar, Brazilian and American food, a DJ, a live band, and time with Charles. Included shuttles handled the journey so fans could concentrate on enjoying the night and getting ready for game day.
Partying with fellow Dallas fans in Brazil was already a reason to make the trip. Adding a Cowboys legend made the weekend even more memorable.
Sunday’s Dallas Takes Rio Tailgate brought the crowd together for five hours before kickoff. Burgers, Brazilian barbecue, Brazilian and American snacks, and an open bar with beer, wine, and cocktails gave everyone plenty to enjoy.
Charles Haley joined the festivities, with a special appearance by Super Bowl MVP Larry Brown. A DJ, fan moments, and Brazilian entertainment kept the party moving as the countdown to kickoff continued.
Then it was time for the short walk to Maracanã. After a week of Copacabana, sightseeing, and celebrating, Dallas fans headed into one of the world’s most famous stadiums to watch their team play in Rio.

The Baltimore Ravens edged the Dallas Cowboys 34–31 at Maracanã Stadium on September 27, 2026, in the NFL’s first regular-season game in Rio de Janeiro.
Dallas led 10–0 early and stayed in the fight through a back-and-forth afternoon. Dak Prescott threw for 276 yards and a touchdown, while CeeDee Lamb finished with 112 receiving yards.
Brandon Aubrey tied the game with seven seconds left, but Baltimore answered with a quick completion and Tyler Loop’s 56-yard field goal as time expired. It was a heartbreaking finish for Cowboys fans after a game that came down to the very last kick.
The result hurt. The week still gave Dallas fans beaches, landmarks, time with a Cowboys legend, and a chance to see their team play at the Maracanã. Read the official Cowboys game recap.
I’m a solo traveler. I didn’t have to worry about a flight or the hotel, and I knew I’d be traveling with a group. Safety in numbers! Going on an international trip where you took care of all the logistics, including the visa process, and all I had to do was pay my money and show up, is priceless. Worth every penny, and thanks for a week of fun and unforgettable memories!
The trip exceeded my expectations. Sports Fan Travel and entire staff were very generous to their guests. I'm looking forward to being a repeat customer.
The entire weekend of events was phenomenal and so well organized. I really have no complaints at all.
Making it all inclusive with all of the events made it very special.
