The Sports Fans Travel 2024 Brazil Takeover Hosted by Jordy Nelson was everything we imagined and more. From the moment we arrived in São Paulo, the energy was nonstop. We opened the week with an incredible Brazilian steakhouse experience, where endless cuts of fire-roasted meats were carved tableside while wine, beer, and laughter flowed as the group came together. The Night Before Party set the tone with caipirinhas, Brazilian specialties, and a packed crowd celebrating the start of football season together deep in the heart of Brazil’s largest city.
One of the highlights of the entire trip was getting to hang out with Packers legend Jordy Nelson throughout the week. From dinners and parties to the VIP section of our tailgate, fans had the chance to take photos, swap stories, and spend real time with one of the all-time greats in an intimate, once-in-a-lifetime setting - this is truly the kind of access you can only get on a Sports Fans Travel trip.
Game day was historic. Just a short walk from the stadium, more than 1,000 fans gathered at our all-inclusive tailgate for six straight hours of food, drinks, music, and pure atmosphere. Brazilian classics mixed with American tailgate favorites, a full open bar kept the party going, and live rock and samba bands brought the energy to another level before we marched together into the stadium that night. The matchup featured the Packers vs. the Eagles to open the 2024 NFL season, marking the first NFL game ever played in South America, and being there in person made it even more unforgettable.
After the game, the adventure continued in Santos, where beachfront views, a samba-filled welcome party, fresh seafood, open bars, and laid-back beach days created the perfect coastal contrast to the buzz of São Paulo. From football history and nonstop parties to sun-soaked afternoons by the ocean, the entire week delivered unforgettable moments in both São Paulo and Santos and set a new standard for what an international fan experience can be.
Day 1 – Departure to Brazil
Flights departed the U.S. as the Sports Fans Travel crew officially kicked off a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Day 2 – Arrival in São Paulo
Touched down in Brazil, transferred to the hotel in the fabulous Itaim Bibi neighborhood, enjoyed a group breakfast (Jordy even surprised those who arrived with a welcome toast!), and celebrated our first night together with a classic Brazilian steakhouse dinner hosted by Jordy at a five-star restaurant!
Day 3 – São Paulo Exploration + Night Before Party
Free time to explore one of the world’s largest cities followed by a high-energy Night Before Party with great food, drinks, and plenty of Packers pride - and of course, Jordy Nelson selfies! We also were treated to a Q&A with both Jordy & his wife Emily - a true highlight for the Green Bay Faithful.
Day 4 – Historic Game Day
Six-hour all-inclusive tailgate with 1,000+ fans just steps from the stadium, live music, full open bar, and Brazilian and American favorites. Marched into the stadium for Packers vs. Eagles to open the 2024 NFL season, the first NFL game ever played in South America. All tickets to the game were provided by Sports Fans Travel, including a select few that upgraded to lower level tickets directly above the tunnel!
Day 5 – Travel to Santos
Scenic transfer to the coast, hotel check-in just steps from the beach, and a sunset welcome party with live samba and an open bar.
Day 6 – NFL Sunday + Beach Time
Casual NFL watch party in the afternoon with food and drinks, plus plenty of time to explore Santos or relax by the ocean.
Day 7 – Beach Day in Santos
Full day on the sand with chairs and umbrellas, beach games, caipirinhas, and an open tab for drinks under the Brazilian sun.
Day 8 – Stadium Tour + Departure
Stopped for a tour of the historic home of Santos FCbefore heading to the airport for flights back to the U.S., closing out an unforgettable week in Brazil.
The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers 34-29 in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 6, 2024, marking the first-ever NFL regular season game in South America, a historic Friday night game featuring Saquon Barkley's three touchdowns for the Eagles and an injury to Packers QB Jordan Love. The event highlighted the NFL's expansion into new markets, with strong local fan support, but was also notable for challenging field conditions at Arena Corinthians and some confusion over team uniform colors.
Josh and Zack were amazing hosts! They were very patient and excellent at navigating our trip to Brazil to attend the Packer game! The additional activities that were planned were spread out enough that it allowed us to have time to explore sites on our own. Overall it was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend Sports Fans Travel!
If you are planning a sports trip to anywhere in the world, this is the group to book with. It may be a little pricey but you get what you pay for-great events and wonderful service. My birthday was during this trip and the trip was the best birthday gift.
