Sports Fans Travel hosted fans from BOTH sidelines in São Paulo - Kansas City fans with Derrick Johnson & Christian Okoye, Los Angeles fans with Lorenzo Neal.

When the NFL brought the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers to São Paulo for the 2025 season opener, Sports Fans Travel was there for both sides of it. Sports Fans Travel hosted two separate hosted fan experiences simultaneously — one for Chiefs fans with Derrick Johnson and Christian Okoye, and one for Chargers fans with Lorenzo Neal — and between the two groups, more than 1,000 fans descended on Brazil for one of the most electric weeks in Sports Fans Travel history.

Both groups kicked off the week the same way: a classic Brazilian steakhouse dinner on arrival night, tableside fire-roasted meats, caipirinhas flowing, and a room full of fans coming together for the first time deep in the heart of São Paulo. The Night Before Party brought each group together with open bars, Brazilian food, and the kind of anticipation that only builds when you know your team is about to play on the other side of the world. Partying with fellow fans in another country is incredible -- but partying with LEGENDS is EPIC.

The legends made the week. Chiefs fans had Derrick Johnson — one of the greatest linebackers in Kansas City history — with them throughout the entire week, from dinners and the Night Before Party all the way to the VIP section of the tailgate. And as if that wasn't enough, the Nigerian Nightmare himself, Christian Okoye, showed up at the game-day tailgate to send the Chiefs faithful into the stadium fired up.

On the other sideline, Lorenzo Neal — fullback legend and one of the most beloved players in Chargers history — was with the Los Angeles group all week long, from the welcome dinner through the Night Before Party and deep into tailgate territory.

Game day in São Paulo was something neither group will ever forget. More than 1,000 fans — red and gold on one side, powder blue on the other — packed our all-inclusive tailgate just steps from Corinthians Arena for six straight hours of food, drinks, live music, and pure fan energy. Then both groups marched into the stadium together for the 2025 NFL São Paulo Game, the second consecutive year the NFL had played a regular-season game in Brazil and the second straight season opener on South American soil.

After the game, both groups headed south to Santos for a perfect coastal finish to the week. Beachfront hotel, a sunset welcome party with live samba, beach days under the Brazilian sun, an NFL watch party, and a tour of the historic Santos FC stadium before heading home. São Paulo gave everyone the football. Santos gave everyone the exhale.

Day 1 – Departure to Brazil
Both groups departed the U.S. and headed south for one of the most unique fan experiences Sports Fans Travel has ever run.

Day 2 – Arrival in São Paulo
Touchdown in Brazil, transfer to the hotel in the Itaim Bibi neighborhood, and first-night Brazilian steakhouse dinners for both groups — Chiefs fans with Derrick Johnson, Chargers fans with Lorenzo Neal.

Day 3 – São Paulo Exploration + Night Before Party
Free time to explore one of the world's largest cities, followed by high-energy Night Before Parties for each group — open bars, Brazilian food, and legends in the room all night.

Day 4 – Historic Game Day
Six-hour all-inclusive tailgate with 1,000+ combined fans just steps from the stadium — live music, full open bar, and Brazilian and American favorites. Christian Okoye joined the Chiefs group at the tailgate for a special appearance. Both groups then marched into Corinthians Arena for the 2025 NFL São Paulo Game: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers.

Day 5 – Travel to Santos
Scenic transfer to the coast, hotel check-in steps from the beach, and a sunset welcome party with live samba and an open bar.

Day 6 – NFL Sunday + Beach Time
Casual NFL watch party in the afternoon with food and drinks, plus time to explore Santos or relax by the ocean.

Day 7 – Beach Day in Santos
Full day on the sand — chairs, umbrellas, caipirinhas, and an open tab under the Brazilian sun.

Day 8 – Stadium Tour + Departure
Tour of the historic home of Santos FC before heading to the airport for flights back to the U.S., closing out an unforgettable week in Brazil.

2025 São Paulo Game: Chargers vs. Chiefs Recap

The Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 27-21 in São Paulo, Brazil on September 5, 2025, in what turned out to be one of the most memorable season openers in recent memory. Justin Herbert delivered a masterclass performance — 318 yards, three touchdowns, and a clutch 19-yard scramble in the closing minutes that effectively sealed the win — outdueling Patrick Mahomes on the biggest international stage the league had yet produced. It was the Chargers' first win over the Chiefs since 2021, snapping a seven-game losing streak against the AFC's dominant force, and doing it in front of a sold-out Corinthians Arena crowd that included Brazilian soccer legend Neymar watching from the stands.

The game marked the NFL's second consecutive regular-season game in South America and cemented São Paulo's place on the league's international calendar. The Chiefs battled back to within 20-18 on a Mahomes-to-Kelce touchdown in the fourth quarter, but a two-point conversion failure and a final Herbert scramble put the game out of reach.
