College football has deep roots in Japan, with a rich history of American gridiron play dating back to the 1930s. The country boasts a passionate local scene, including the Japan X Bowl. While no major U.S. college football games are currently scheduled for Japan as of 2026, the success of past international matchups and the NFL’s renewed interest suggest that more games could be on the horizon.
