When the 12s Took New Orleans

In 2022, Sports Fans Travel partnered with the Sea Hawkers Booster Clubto bring 100 die-hard Seahawks faithful to the city that knows how to party better than anywhere else in America — New Orleans. What followed was a weekend that could only happen in the Big Easy: a bar crawl down Frenchmen Street, a brass band Second Line parade through the French Quarter, a four-hour NOLA-style tailgate in the shadow of the Superdome, and a Seahawks road game against the Saints that had 12s outnumbered but never outmatched. It wasn't just a road trip. It was a takeover.

New Orleans has a reputation for doing food and drink better than just about anywhere on earth, and this group leaned into it fully. The weekend kicked off with the first drinks on Sports Fans Travel at a local brewery on Frenchmen Street — the locals' side of the city — before Hurricanes at Pat O'Brien's turned teeth red and smiles wide. Gameday brought out the full spread: a four-hour NOLA-style tailgate loaded with Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice with Smoked Sausage, fresh-baked Po'Boys piled high with turkey, ham and roast beef, Bloody Marys, and cocktails to keep the party rolling all the way to kickoff. For those who ventured out on their own, Mother's, Central Grocery, and Lil Dizzy's were waiting — because in New Orleans, even the solo meals are unforgettable.

The Itinerary

Friday – Arrival & Frenchmen Street Bar Crawl Touched down in New Orleans, checked in, and hit the ground running. The weekend kicked off on Frenchmen Street with a bar crawl starting at Brieux Carre Brewing Company — first two drinks on Sports Fans Travel — before following the music and the crowd deeper into the city's most electric neighborhood.

Saturday – City Day + Second Line + French Quarter Party A free day to explore everything New Orleans has to offer — beignets, Po'Boys, and whatever trouble you could find — before regrouping for a private two-hour party at the home of the New Orleans Sea Hawkers with food, open bar, and a balcony overlooking the action below. Then came the moment no one forgot: a brass band Second Line parade with a police escort through the French Quarter, dancing past Saints fans all the way to Pat O'Brien's for Hurricanes on the patio.

Sunday – Gameday Up early and straight to the tailgate — four hours of Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice, fresh-baked Po'Boy platters, Bloody Marys, Crown Royal cocktails, and King Cakes in 12s colors, all in the shadow of the Superdome. When the clock hit 11:15, the 12s marched together through enemy territory and into one of the most iconic stadiums in football.

The Saints handed the Seahawks a tough 39-32 defeat in a back-and-forth thriller at the Caesars Superdome that featured six lead changes and some of the most explosive individual performances of the NFL season. Taysom Hill was the story of the day, accounting for four total touchdowns — three rushing and one passing — while racking up 112 yards on the ground. Alvin Kamara made his return from injury felt immediately, combining for nearly 200 yards from scrimmage and reminding everyone why he's one of the most dangerous weapons in the game.

Geno Smith gave the 12s plenty to cheer about despite the loss, throwing for 268 yards and three touchdowns including highlight-reel strikes to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Kenneth Walker III nearly pulled off the comeback with a stunning 69-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to briefly give Seattle the lead, but the Saints answered right back and closed it out. It was the kind of game that stays with you — not because of the result, but because of the sheer entertainment value of watching two evenly matched teams trade blows for four quarters in one of football's most electric atmospheres.

Taylor was great! We had a great time and made several new friends. We appreciated the options for hotels.we are frequent travelers but thought the tips were well thought out for those who may not travel often or who have traveled internationally before.

Dublin trip 2025

We suck at planning things to do when we go on vacation, so having everything planned for us already was great. We didn’t have to think about getting game tickets, plane tickets, book a hotel, or how to go sight seeing because it was all included. For us, this was a fantastic value and experience.
