In August 2026, Sports Fans Travel brought 100 Carolina Tar Heels faithful to Dublin, Ireland for a six-night experience built around one of the most unique stages college football has ever played on. Hosted by UNC basketball legend Tyler Hansbrough — 2009 National Champion, National Player of the Year, and one of the most beloved figures in Chapel Hill history — the week was a full Dublin immersion: tours of the Jameson Distillery and Guinness Storehouse, a private Tyler Hansbrough Q&A, a Night Before Party in the heart of Temple Bar, an all-inclusive gameday tailgate steps from

Aviva Stadium, and a full-day excursion to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway to close out the trip. Carolina didn't just travel to Dublin. Carolina took it over.

Dublin has a way of pulling people in — the pubs, the people, the music spilling out onto cobblestoned streets at all hours of the night — and this group dove in headfirst. The trip opened with a Welcome Happy Hour at Bar 1701 inside The Church, one of Dublin's most stunning venues, with Tyler Hansbrough there from the very first night to kick things off right. Thursday brought guided tours of the Jameson Distillery and the Guinness Storehouse, capped off with a pint at the iconic Gravity Bar with all of Dublin spread out below. Friday delivered one of the most exclusive experiences of the entire week — a private Q&A with Tyler Hansbrough in the afternoon, where he opened up about his career, his memories at Chapel Hill, and what it means to be a Tar Heel — followed by a Night Before Party at Buskers on the Ball in the heart of Temple Bar that had Carolina fans taking over one of Dublin's most electric venues. By the time Saturday morning arrived, the entire city knew the Tar Heels were in town.

Gameday at Aviva Stadium was everything 100 Carolina fans had crossed the Atlantic for. The group loaded buses to The Bath Pub — a classic Irish pub just a short walk from the stadium — for a packed tailgate with food, drinks, and a full Carolina crowd before making the walk to the stadium for a 5pm kickoff. After the game, the trip wasn't done yet — Monday brought one of the most spectacular days Ireland has to offer, a full-day excursion to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway City, with an included lunch and a scenic drive along the Wild Atlantic Way to close out a week that none of the 100 Tar Heels fans in attendance will ever forget.

Day 7 – Departure
One last morning in Dublin before heading home, closing out a week that proved Carolina fans travel as well as any fanbase in college football.

The Tar Heels gave their 100 traveling faithful exactly the result they came to Dublin for. In Bill Belichick's second season at the helm, North Carolina delivered a gritty, defensive 15-10 victory over TCU at Aviva Stadium — a result that felt all the sweeter given TCU had handed the Tar Heels a humbling 48-14 loss in Chapel Hill just a year earlier. New quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. threw for 232 yards and Jaylen McGill punched in the go-ahead touchdown as UNC built a lead and then leaned on their defense to protect it on a wet Dublin afternoon.
TCU went scoreless for the final 49 minutes of the game — stopped twice on fourth down in the closing stages as the Tar Heels held firm when it mattered most. The final score was 15-10, and while it wasn't always pretty, the win was undeniable. For 100 Carolina fans who had spent the week touring Dublin, raising glasses at the Jameson Distillery, getting a private audience with Tyler Hansbrough, and tailgating in a packed Irish pub steps from the stadium, watching UNC grind out a redemption win on Irish soil was the perfect ending to a perfect week.
